Historic Passing of Bill

PHOENIX (May 4, 2021) --- Today, Arizonans received some truly groundbreaking news. Senate Bill 1453 (SB1453), passed in the house and legislature, was signed into law by Governor Doug Ducey. This bill will allow two-year community colleges, such as 精品SM在线影片, to offer baccalaureate degrees for the first time ever. 鈥

鈥淚t goes without saying, but this is a historic moment for higher education in Arizona,鈥 said Dr. Clyne Namuo, the new interim President of 精品SM在线影片. 鈥淪tudents will now be able to benefit from earning a bachelor's degree close to home, in their community, at 精品SM在线影片.  The bill鈥檚 passing will open so many doors for people who hadn鈥檛 pursued their bachelor鈥檚 degrees until now.鈥

As a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), our student diversity is a tremendous strength.  Over 65% of students are first-generation. This opportunity will further enhance their access, opportunity, and affordability to higher education in Arizona. In fact, 精品SM在线影片, as part of the Maricopa Community College District, will continue to be one of the most affordable higher education institutions in the state of Arizona.

SB1453 will provide a pathway for current and future college students in the state of Arizona. This change will impact the Phoenix community for the better in a variety of ways. 精品SM在线影片 faculty and leadership will work collaboratively to identify the  programs that will advance immediately for consideration as a four-year baccalaureate program.

Namuo adds, 鈥淭hanks to SB1453, it鈥檚 now more attainable than ever to achieve your dreams in Arizona. I urge Phoenix residents to consider the possibilities that  an education can do for themselves and their families, whether that be a certificate, associates, or bachelor鈥檚 degree.鈥
